What Happens on the Assessment Day?

An assessment day is warm and unhurried — usually 60–90 minutes. You'll share your child's story, the clinical team observes your child through play-based activities across communication, play, movement and learning, and you'll hear initial impressions and next steps. No needles, no pain, no pass-or-fail.

You've booked the assessment — now you're wondering what the day itself actually looks like. Here's exactly what to expect, step by step.

In short

An assessment day at Pinnacle Blooms Network is warm, unhurried and built around your child. You'll meet the clinical team, share your child's story, and watch your child play and engage through structured, friendly activities — usually over 60–90 minutes. There are no needles, no exams that hurt, and no pass-or-fail; it is simply a careful look at how your child is growing across communication, play, movement and learning.

What the day looks like, step by step

1. Welcome and your story. You'll be greeted and settled in. A clinician will ask about your pregnancy, your child's milestones, daily routines, what delights them and what worries you. Your observations matter — you are the expert on your child.

2. Play-based observation. Your child engages in age-appropriate activities — toys, pictures, simple games — while clinicians gently observe communication, social engagement, attention, play and movement. To your child, it feels like play, not a test.

3. Structured profiling. Across the session, the team builds a multi-domain picture of your child's strengths and areas needing support. Nothing is rushed; breaks happen whenever your child needs one.

4. A first conversation. Before you leave, you'll have time to ask questions and hear initial impressions and next steps.

How to help the day go smoothly

  • Bring any previous reports, hearing or vision check results, and a list of your questions.
  • Pick a time of day when your child is usually rested and fed; bring a favourite snack or comfort toy.
  • Come as you are — there's nothing to prepare or rehearse, and a tearful or shy child is completely normal.

Frequently asked

How long does the assessment day take?

Most assessments take about 60 to 90 minutes, with breaks whenever your child needs them. The team never rushes; the goal is to see your child relaxed and engaged.

Does my child need to prepare or study for it?

Not at all. There is nothing to revise or rehearse — the activities are play-based and friendly. Simply come at a time when your child is usually rested and fed.

Will it hurt or involve any tests with needles?

No. The assessment is observation and play-based activities only. There are no needles, no painful exams, and nothing your child needs to fear.

Will I get results on the same day?

You'll have a first conversation about initial impressions and next steps before you leave. A full structured AbilityScore® profile and any clinical conclusions are shared with you by the clinician at your centre.

Can I stay with my child during the assessment?

Yes. Your presence helps your child feel safe, and your observations are an important part of the picture. The team will guide you on the best way to support the session.
