What is the AbilityScore?

The AbilityScore is a single 0–1000 measure of where a child's development stands today across communication, cognition, motor, social, emotional, sensory and self-care. A clinical AbilityScore is formed only at a Pinnacle centre, under clinician governance — never self-calculated.

What is the AbilityScore? — Ask Pinnacle, the Child Development Kośa

Every parent asks the same first question: where does my child actually stand? The AbilityScore answers it in one clear number.

In short

The AbilityScore is a single, easy-to-read measure on a 0–1000 scale that shows where a child's development stands today — not a label, not a verdict, a starting point. It brings together the domains that matter in early childhood: communication, thinking and learning, movement, social connection, emotional regulation, sensory processing and everyday self-care. A higher score reflects more independent, age-typical functioning; a lower score simply shows where support will help most. It is built to be understood by a parent in a moment and trusted by a clinician for decisions.

The science, briefly

The AbilityScore is grounded in internationally recognised frameworks — the WHO's ICF model of functioning and ICD-11 — and has been validated against established gold-standard developmental instruments. It turns a structured, clinician-administered developmental profile into one calibrated figure, so progress can be measured the same way every time. How the score is composed and weighted is governed clinically — it is deliberately not a self-administered calculation, and that is exactly what keeps it reliable.

The Pinnacle way

A clinical AbilityScore — and any diagnosis — is established only at a Pinnacle centre, by qualified clinicians, never from an online form or an app. That governance is what makes the number mean something. From day one it gives your family clarity, a baseline, and a plan you can actually follow across your child's journey toward independence.

This is general information, not a diagnosis. A clinical AbilityScore® and any diagnosis are formed only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre, under qualified clinician care.

Frequently asked

Can I calculate my child's AbilityScore online?

No. A clinical AbilityScore is established only at a Pinnacle centre by qualified clinicians. Online tools cannot produce a valid clinical score.

Is the AbilityScore a diagnosis?

No. It is a measure of current functioning that gives a baseline and direction. Any diagnosis is made separately, by clinicians, at a centre.
