Motor Development
What an AbilityScore of 900–1000 in Motor Development means
An AbilityScore of 900–1000 in Motor Development means your child's movement skills — sitting, walking, balance, grasp and coordination — are tracking at the upper end of their expected range, a real strength to celebrate. It is a snapshot of strength at the time of assessment, read by a Pinnacle clinician alongside your child's full developmental picture.
When your child's movement is flowing with confidence, an AbilityScore in the 900–1000 band is a quiet celebration — your little one is thriving.
In short
An AbilityScore® of 900–1000 in Motor Development means your child's movement skills — how they sit, crawl, walk, run, balance, reach, grasp and coordinate — are tracking at the upper end of their expected range, a real strength to celebrate. It tells you that, at the time of assessment, your child's motor foundations are secure and well-ahead of any concern. It is a snapshot of strength, not a finish line — and it is read by a Pinnacle clinician alongside your child's full picture. What this band actually tells you
Motor development (ICF b760, control of voluntary movement) covers two big rivers that feed everyday confidence:- Gross motor — the big, whole-body movements: rolling, sitting, crawling, standing, walking, running, jumping, climbing and balance.
- Fine motor — the small, precise movements: reaching, grasping, transferring, pincer grip, scribbling and building.
A 900–1000 result suggests both rivers are flowing well together, with smooth coordination and the postural control that lets a child explore, play and learn freely. Children with strong motor foundations often find it easier to join games, hold a crayon, feed themselves and keep up with friends — small wins that build self-belief.
A high band is wonderful, and it is still worth remembering that development is a whole — a strong motor score sits beside speech, social, play and thinking skills, which a clinician views together rather than in isolation.
How to keep this strength growing
The best thing you can do is keep offering rich, varied movement — open floor time, safe climbing, balls to throw and catch, crayons and blocks, and plenty of unhurried outdoor play. Children consolidate motor skills through joyful repetition, not drilling. Re-checking at the usual developmental milestones keeps the picture current as your child grows. The Pinnacle way

What to watch
Even with a strong band, keep an eye on whether your child continues to meet new motor milestones as they grow, and notice any sudden loss of a skill they once had — that always deserves a prompt clinical look regardless of an earlier high score.

Frequently asked
Is an AbilityScore of 900–1000 a good result for motor development?
Yes — it indicates your child's movement skills are tracking at the upper end of their expected range at the time of assessment, which is a genuine strength to celebrate. A Pinnacle clinician reads it alongside your child's full picture across speech, social and thinking skills.
Does a high motor score mean my child needs no further checks?
Not quite. Development is ongoing, so re-checking at the usual milestones keeps the picture current. A high score is reassuring, but always seek a prompt clinical look if your child loses a skill they once had.
Can I rely on this score as a diagnosis?
No. The AbilityScore is a clinician-administered structured assessment, not a diagnosis. Any diagnosis is formed only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre under qualified clinician care.
