People
How People is scored on the AbilityScore
On the AbilityScore, your toddler's People area — how they connect with the people around them — is read through warm, structured observation of joint attention, comfort-seeking and back-and-forth play, alongside a conversation about everyday life. There is no single test and no online number; a qualified Pinnacle clinician builds the picture against your child's own baseline.
When you want to understand how your toddler connects with the people they love, the first step is gentle, careful observation — never a label rushed onto them.
In short
On the AbilityScore®, People — your toddler's social connection with the people around them — is read through warm, structured observation of how they relate, share attention, respond to familiar faces and seek out company, alongside a friendly conversation about your child's everyday life. There is no single test and no online number: a qualified Pinnacle clinician builds the picture against your child's own baseline, over real, calm moments of play and interaction. How the People area is looked at
For a toddler (roughly 12–36 months), social connection shows up in everyday behaviour, so a clinician watches for things like:- Joint attention — does your child look where you point, and share a moment by looking back at you?
- Seeking and enjoying people — do they come to you for comfort, bring you a toy, or light up when a familiar person arrives?
- Back-and-forth — early turn-taking in play, gestures, simple games like peek-a-boo.
- Responding to name and warmth — turning, smiling, reaching, sharing emotion.
- Context conversation — your observations of how your child relates at home and with others.
This sits within the ICF area of interpersonal interactions and relationships (d7), and the clinician thoughtfully tells social differences apart from look-alikes like hearing or language needs.
