YOUR QUESTION. A CLEARER NEXT STEP.
What is the AbilityScore® developmental assessment?
The AbilityScore® is a clinician-administered, structured developmental assessment used across Pinnacle Blooms Network to understand a child's strengths and support needs across communication, movement, play, learning, behaviour and daily living. It is the Measure step of the PinnacleAI journey — a calm, evidence-informed starting point that turns observation into a personalised plan. It is never a self-test or a label; it is carried out in person by a qualified clinician, and any diagnosis is formed only at a Pinnacle centre.

Before any plan, before any therapy — comes a clear, caring picture of where your child shines and where they need a helping hand.
In short
The AbilityScore® is a clinician-administered, structured developmental assessment used across Pinnacle Blooms Network to understand your child's strengths and support needs across the areas that matter — communication, movement, play, learning, behaviour and daily living. It is the Measure step of the PinnacleAI journey: a calm, evidence-informed starting point that turns observation into a clear, personalised plan. It is never a label or a self-test — it is carried out in person by a qualified clinician who knows children.
What it actually involves
Think of the AbilityScore® as a thoughtful, whole-child look rather than a single number on a screen. During the assessment, a trained Pinnacle clinician observes and interacts with your child through structured, play-based and age-appropriate activities, while listening carefully to you — because you know your child best. They gather a rounded view across developmental domains, noting both what your child does easily and where a little support would help them flourish.
The outcome is not a verdict; it is a map. It shows your child's profile in plain language, highlights where to begin, and shapes an individualised pathway — whether that involves speech therapy, occupational support, or a watch-and-monitor approach where that is the kinder, wiser choice. Because it is structured, it can be repeated over time, so you and your team can see real progress, not guesswork.
Why a structured measure matters
Development is wonderfully varied, and worry often comes from not knowing where to look. A consistent, clinician-led assessment replaces anxiety with clarity: it tells you what is age-appropriate to expect now, what is worth observing, and when focused support is genuinely useful. It also gives every therapist on your child's team the same shared starting picture, so support feels joined-up rather than scattered.
The Pinnacle way
A clinical AbilityScore® and any diagnosis are formed only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre, under qualified clinician care — never from an app, a form or a checklist alone. The assessment is a clinician-administered structured tool; its inner scoring is for our clinicians, while what you receive is a clear, warm explanation of your child's profile and the next right step. CONNECT THE ANSWER TO YOUR CHILD’S DAY
Something to notice. Something to discuss.
What to notice
As a parent, simply note what your child does easily and where they seem to struggle across talking, moving, playing and daily routines — and bring those everyday observations to the assessment, because your insight is part of the picture.
In everyday life
Before your visit, jot down a few real moments from home — how your child plays, communicates wants, follows routines and reacts to new situations. These small notes give the clinician a richer, truer view than any one session can capture.
Bring your observations and questions to your child’s professional. Choose activities that suit your child’s comfort, abilities and agreed plan.
Bring your questions to a first visitQuestions families ask
Is the AbilityScore® a diagnosis?
No. The AbilityScore® is a structured developmental assessment that maps your child's strengths and support needs. Any diagnosis is formed separately, only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre under qualified clinician care.
Can I do the AbilityScore® online or with an app?
No. It is a clinician-administered assessment carried out in person, with a trained clinician observing and interacting with your child and listening to your observations. It is never a self-test.
What ages is the AbilityScore® for?
It is used across the developmental lifecycle, with age-appropriate, play-based activities. The clinician adapts what they observe to your child's stage, from early years onward.
What happens after the assessment?
You receive a clear, plain-language picture of your child's profile and the recommended next step — which may be a focused therapy pathway, or a watch-and-monitor approach where that is more appropriate.
