YOUR QUESTION. A CLEARER NEXT STEP.
What happens after my child's developmental assessment?
After a developmental assessment, your clinician explains the findings, then works with you to create a personalised written therapy plan with clear goals, recommended sessions and progress reviews. The plan grows with your child. AbilityScore® is part of Pinnacle’s developmental assessment. Diagnosis, where needed, requires an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.

The assessment is the beginning of the journey — what comes next is a clear, caring plan built around your child.
In short
Once your child's developmental assessment is complete, your clinician sits down with you to explain what they observed — your child's strengths and the areas that need support. Together you receive a written individualised therapy plan with clear goals, recommended sessions and a simple way to track progress. Nothing is rushed and nothing is decided without you; you leave knowing exactly what the next step looks like.
What happens next, step by step
- A feedback conversation — your clinician walks you through the findings in plain language, celebrating what your child does well and gently explaining where growth is needed. You can ask anything.
- Your child's plan — a personalised roadmap with specific, achievable goals, the type and frequency of therapy recommended (for example speech, occupational or behaviour support), and realistic timelines.
- Goal-setting with you — you help shape the priorities, because the goals that matter most to your family matter most to us.
- Getting started — sessions are scheduled, your therapy team is introduced, and you're shown simple ways to support progress at home.
- Review points — progress is tracked over time and the plan is adjusted as your child grows and gains new skills.
The plan is a living document — it grows and changes as your child does, always built around their strengths first.

CONNECT THE ANSWER TO YOUR CHILD’S DAY
Something to notice. Something to discuss.
What to notice
Watch for how your child responds to early sessions and whether daily skills improve; keep notes on small wins to share at review points so the plan can be adjusted.
In everyday life
Keep the written plan somewhere visible at home and pick one small goal to practise through play each day — steady daily moments matter more than long sessions.
Bring your observations and questions to your child’s professional. Choose activities that suit your child’s comfort, abilities and agreed plan.
Bring your questions to a first visitQuestions families ask
How soon after the assessment do we get the plan?
Your clinician usually walks you through the findings and shares your child's individualised plan promptly, so you leave knowing the clear next steps rather than waiting in uncertainty.
Will I be involved in setting the goals?
Yes. Goals are set together with you, because the priorities that matter most to your family shape the plan. You are your child's most important partner in progress.
Does the plan ever change?
Yes — the plan is a living document. At review points your child's progress is tracked and goals are adjusted as they grow and gain new skills.
