When do children usually develop clear sound production?
Most children develop clear sound production between 3 and 7 years. By 3 a familiar listener understands about three-quarters of speech; by 4 strangers understand most of it; and by 7 nearly all sounds, including tricky r, s, l and th, are mastered.
