- Visual structure of tasks — using colour, layout, labels and containers so the materials themselves show a child how to do the activity, reducing reliance on verbal instructions.
- Routine and predictability — consistent, meaningful routines that a child can rely on, taught flexibly so change becomes easier to tolerate.
