AbilityScore® is a structured, clinician-administered developmental assessment used within Pinnacle Blooms Network to profile a child's abilities across multiple developmental domains and to inform an individualised therapy plan. Its clinical basis rests on established developmental-milestone science and validated assessment principles, refined against a large real-world therapy dataset; its regulatory basis in India is anchored by Pinnacle's CDSCO Class B Software-as-a-Medical-Device (SaMD) governance framework. It is a decision-support and measurement instrument administered by qualified clinicians — it does not autonomously diagnose.

The clinical basis

AbilityScore® operationalises widely accepted developmental constructs — communication and language, social-emotional skills, cognition, fine and gross motor, adaptive and self-care behaviours — into a structured, repeatable profile. It is administered and interpreted by trained clinicians rather than generated by a parent-completed form or app, which keeps clinical judgement central to every result. The instrument has been refined against Pinnacle's operational evidence base: 2.5 billion+ data points drawn from 25 million+ therapy sessions across 4.95 lakh+ families, supported by 12 validated studies. This scale supports norm-referencing and longitudinal tracking, so a child's profile can be re-measured over a therapy journey to demonstrate change. The score functions as a baseline and progress-monitoring tool that feeds directly into goal-setting, not as a standalone label.

The regulatory basis and scope

Within India (CDSCO jurisdiction), Pinnacle's digital health tooling is governed under a Class B SaMD framework, and the wider intellectual-property position is protected by 16+ WIPO PCT patents. For clarity on scope: the clinical decision and any diagnostic conclusion sit with the qualified clinician and are formed at a centre — AbilityScore® supports that decision rather than replacing it. The internal weighting, item scoring and thresholds are proprietary and not disclosed; clinicians and partners should understand it as a validated, structured, clinician-administered instrument.
