Made a Mistake? is a short social-skills comic book that uses simple pictures and a relatable story to help children understand that everyone makes mistakes, and that the brave, kind thing to do is to own up, apologise and try again. It is a gentle teaching tool — not a test or a therapy in itself — best suited to children roughly 5 to 10 years old who can follow a short illustrated story and enjoy talking about feelings. It is a lovely fit if your child struggles with shame after errors, hides mistakes, or finds saying sorry hard.

Is it right for your child?

This comic works well when your child:

• gets very upset, hides or melts down after getting something wrong;
• finds it hard to apologise or to repair after a small conflict with a friend or sibling;
• enjoys pictures and stories more than long spoken explanations;
• is learning that mistakes are normal and fixable, not shameful.

It is less suited as a standalone tool if your child cannot yet follow a simple picture story, or if mistakes trigger big emotional dysregulation that needs adult co-regulation first. In those cases the comic is still useful — but read it together, pausing to talk, rather than handing it over to read alone.

The simplest way to use it: read it side by side, point to how the character feels, and link it to a real moment from your child's week — "that's like when you spilled the juice, remember?". Keep your own tone warm and unhurried, so the message lands as mistakes are safe here.
