In India, children aged 6–18 with a recognised disability have a legal right to free, inclusive education under the RPwD Act 2016 and RTE Act 2009 — schools cannot refuse admission, and your child is entitled to reasonable accommodations, accessible facilities and exam concessions. To claim several of these benefits, a child usually needs a disability certificate (issued by a notified medical authority) and a UDID card (Unique Disability ID). These open the door to scholarships, fee benefits and examination concessions.
