Your child's Task Completion AbilityScore: next steps

A Task Completion AbilityScore® on the 0–100 band is a snapshot of how your child currently starts, sustains and finishes age-appropriate tasks — not a verdict. The next steps are to interpret it with a clinician, turn it into a practical plan (often occupational-therapy strategies for planning and attention), and re-measure over time. A clinical AbilityScore® and any diagnosis are formed only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre under qualified clinician care.

A number on its own tells you very little — what matters is what you and a clinician do with it next.

In short

A Task Completion AbilityScore® sits on a 0–100 band that describes how steadily your child can start, stay with and finish an age-appropriate task right now — it is a snapshot, not a verdict, and it is meant to point the way to the right support. A lower band usually means a child needs more scaffolding to plan, sustain attention and see a task through; a higher band means they are managing this well for their age. Whatever the number, the next step is the same: turn it into a clear, encouraging plan with a clinician who has met your child.

What the band is telling you

Task completion draws on several skills working together — planning, sustained attention, working memory, frustration tolerance and motivation. A 0–100 band reflects how these are coming together for your child compared with what is typical at their age:
  • Lower band — your child likely benefits from tasks broken into smaller steps, visual prompts and frequent gentle wins. This is a starting point, not a ceiling.
  • Mid band — emerging skills that grow well with consistent routines and the right level of challenge.
  • Higher band — your child is finishing tasks well; support focuses on extending independence and stretch.

Importantly, the score reflects this period of your child's development and is expected to shift as skills build. It guides where to begin — not who your child is.

Your next steps

1. Read it with a clinician, not alone. The band makes sense only alongside how your child plays, communicates and copes day to day — your clinician interprets it in context. 2. Turn it into a plan. Whether that is occupational-therapy strategies for planning and attention, or simple home scaffolds, the goal is steady, measurable progress. 3. Re-measure over time. Repeating the structured assessment shows whether strategies are working and lets the plan adapt. 4. Bring your observations. What you see at home — what helps your child finish, what derails them — is genuinely valuable data for the team.

The Pinnacle way

A clinical AbilityScore® and any diagnosis are formed only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre, under qualified clinician care — never from an app, a form or a number read in isolation. What to watch

Watch how your child manages everyday tasks: do they start without lots of prompting, stay with a task, cope when something is tricky, and finish it? Note what helps them follow through and what causes them to give up — and share this with your clinician.

Try this at home

Break one daily task into 2–3 tiny steps and celebrate each step finished. Visual checklists or picture cards make the goal feel reachable and turn 'finishing' into a series of small, doable wins.

Frequently asked

Is a low Task Completion score something to worry about?

No — it is a starting point, not a diagnosis or a fixed trait. A lower band simply means your child currently benefits from more support to plan, sustain attention and finish tasks. With the right strategies, these skills typically grow, and re-measuring over time shows the progress.

What skills does Task Completion measure?

It reflects several skills working together — planning, sustained attention, working memory, frustration tolerance and motivation. Because these mature at different rates, the band is read in the context of your child's overall development by a clinician.

Can I rely on the number alone to decide what to do?

The number is most useful when interpreted by a clinician who has met your child, alongside your own observations of daily life. A clinical AbilityScore® and any plan are formed only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre under qualified clinician care.
