A Self-Awareness AbilityScore® is one snapshot of how your child is beginning to notice their own feelings, body, preferences and place among others — it is not a label or a diagnosis, and a single number across a 0–100 range cannot tell the whole story of a growing child. The most useful next step is a clinician-led conversation that puts the score in context: your child's age, their other strengths, and your everyday observations at home. From there, if support is helpful, a warm, individualised plan can begin.

Making sense of the score

Self-awareness is an emotional-development skill — it grows gradually as children learn to recognise their own emotions ("I feel cross"), notice their bodies and needs, understand they are separate from others, and reflect on what they like and can do. It develops at different paces in different children, and it is closely woven together with language, play, and relationships.
