An Achievement AbilityScore® in the 100–200 band is one structured signal about how your child is learning and applying skills — it is not a diagnosis and not a label. The most useful next step is a calm, in-person review with a Pinnacle clinician, who can place this number alongside how your child plays, listens, talks and solves everyday problems, and then decide together whether gentle support, watchful monitoring, or simply reassurance is right. A single band never tells the whole story of a growing child.

What this band means — and what to do next

• It is a snapshot, not a sentence. Achievement reflects how your child is currently picking up and using cognitive and learning skills. Children develop in spurts, and many things — a recent illness, an unfamiliar setting, tiredness, or mood on the day — can shift how a score looks.
• Bring context. Note what your child can do at home: following instructions, problem-solving in play, curiosity, attention to favourite tasks. These everyday wins are as important as any number.
• Book a clinician review. A qualified clinician interprets the band properly, combines it with observation and history, and explains what — if anything — needs action. This is where a number becomes a plan.
• Support is gentle and goal-led. If support is recommended, it is built around your child's strengths — small, playful steps that grow learning and confidence, not pressure.
• Reassessment shows direction. What matters most is the trend over time, not one reading. Progress is tracked so you can see growth clearly.

When to act sooner

Seek a review without waiting if you also notice your child losing skills they once had, marked frustration or distress around everyday learning, or if a teacher or carer has raised concerns. Any sudden change in alertness, communication or behaviour should be discussed with your paediatrician promptly.
