Is Online Therapy Safe and Private?

Done properly, online child therapy is both safe and private. At Pinnacle, sessions use a secure encrypted platform, are led by the same qualified therapists who work in our centres, and your child's data is kept confidential. Online therapy is well-evidenced for many developmental areas, and clinicians will always say when a part of care is better done in person.

Is Online Therapy Safe and Private?
Is Online Therapy Safe and Private? — Ask Pinnacle, the Child Development Kośa

When your child's therapy happens through a screen, the first thing you deserve to know is simple: is it safe, and is it private?

In short

Yes — done properly, online therapy is both safe and private. At Pinnacle Blooms Network, online sessions run on a secure, encrypted platform, are delivered by the same qualified therapists who work in our centres, and your child's information is handled under strict confidentiality. Online therapy is well-evidenced for many areas of child development, and a clinician will always tell you honestly if any part of your child's care is better done in person.

What makes it safe and private

Safety of the care itself — Online (tele-therapy) is recognised internationally as an effective way to deliver many developmental services, especially speech, language, parent coaching and follow-up. A trained clinician guides every session, watches your child closely, and adapts activities live. For young children, a parent or carer is part of the session, which actually strengthens the work because the skills get practised at home, where they matter most.

Privacy of your data — Sessions take place over an encrypted connection, not an open video call. Access is limited to your child's care team, recordings (if any) are made only with your consent, and your family's information is never sold or shared for advertising. You can ask at any time how your data is stored and who can see it.

When in-person is better — Some assessments and certain hands-on therapies (for example, detailed motor or sensory work) are best done face-to-face. A good clinician blends both, and is upfront about which parts of the plan need a centre visit.

What to watch

Before your first online session, check that the link is private and encrypted, that you can see your therapist's name and qualification, and that any recording is only made with your clear consent. Ask how your child's data is stored and who can access it.

Try this at home

Set up your child's online session in a quiet, well-lit corner with a few familiar toys nearby. Being part of the session yourself helps your child settle — and lets you practise the same activities the rest of the week.

Frequently asked

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

For many areas — especially speech, language, parent coaching and follow-up — online therapy is well-evidenced and effective. Some assessments and hands-on motor or sensory work are best done in person, and your clinician will blend both and tell you honestly which parts need a centre visit.

Who can see my child's information?

Only your child's care team. Sessions run over an encrypted connection, recordings are made only with your consent, and your family's information is never sold or shared for advertising. You can ask at any time how your data is stored.

Do I need to be present during my child's online session?

For young children, yes — a parent or carer being part of the session is encouraged. It keeps your child settled and means the skills get practised at home, which is where the most progress happens.

Can a diagnosis be made online?

No. A clinical AbilityScore® and any diagnosis are formed only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre under qualified clinician care, never from an app or online form. Online therapy supports the ongoing plan that follows.
