An essential goal for individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is to reach maximal independence on a variety of tasks that facilitate vocational engagement and community integration. In addition, increased independence reduces the need for intensive staffing. While many learners with autism are provided individual, or one-to-one, instruction throughout much of their day, moving to occasional group instructional formats provides many positive benefits. Along with exclusive 1:1 therapy programs attending weekly group therapy / group teaching would create needed socialization, instructors to group learning and being part of the group of people... Leading to real life scenarios.
