By 18–24 months most toddlers walk well, begin to run, climb low furniture, and walk up steps with help; hands grow nimbler with block-stacking, scribbling and spoon-feeding. Milestones come within a range, so steady progress matters more than exact timing.

*Between 18 and 24 months, your toddler is busy turning walking into running, climbing and exploring — a wonderful stage of growing confidence.*

## In short
Most children aged 18–24 months can walk well, begin to run, climb onto furniture, and walk up steps with a little help. Their hands grow nimbler too — stacking blocks, scribbling and feeding themselves with a spoon. Milestones arrive within a range, so small variations are normal; what matters is steady forward progress.

## Motor milestones to look for
**Big-body (gross motor)**
- Walks well and begins to run, though still a little wobbly
- Climbs onto and off low furniture without help
- Walks up steps holding a hand or rail
- Pulls toys behind while walking; carries a toy as they go
- Kicks a ball forward and squats to pick things up

**Hands (fine motor)**
- Stacks 3–4 blocks into a tower
- Scribbles spontaneously with a crayon
- Turns pages of a board book, a few at a time
- Feeds self with a spoon and drinks from a cup
- Helps with dressing — pushing arms through sleeves

## The Pinnacle way
Milestones are a range, not a race — if your toddler isn't yet running or stacking, gentle daily practice often helps. A clinical [AbilityScore®](/ask/what-is-the-abilityscore-and-how-is-it-calculated) and any diagnosis are formed only at a Pinnacle Blooms Network centre under qualified clinician care; nothing here is a diagnosis. Explore our [motor](/motor) development guidance and how [occupational therapy](https://www.pinnacleblooms.org/best-occupational-therapy-center-india-proven-improvement-rate) builds strength and coordination.
